It’s a great game despite its flaws, and another which feels designed for curious players to bag the Platinum Trophy with little trouble. Ghost of Tsushima followed in its Platinum-laden footsteps shortly after, offering yet another sprawling world to explore alongside combat and exploration that rewarded my curiosity with new cosmetic items and character customisation that kept me moving forward in search of the next discovery. Once it popped, I felt triumphant, yet also somewhat bittersweet in how I’d now seen everything Naughty Dog’s masterpiece had to offer, so I deleted it off my hard drive and haven’t touched it since. Related: It's Time For Another Yakuza Set In The Pastĭespite its reputation as the most miserable game in history, I played through The Last of Us Part 2 twice during the review period, tackling its hardest difficulty setting (see, games journalists can play video games) and ensuring I stumbled across all optional items and potential conversations to earn the Platinum Trophy. I’m doing it more often lately, and it’s an unexpected joy. I seldom go for the ultimate goal, but if it’s something that can be achieved in a single playthrough or it belongs to a game I’m especially enamoured with, then I’ll shoot for the moon and never look back. Regardless of what game I’m playing, I’ll always find myself dipping into the Trophy list to see if 100 percent completion is plausible. It’s easy to see through the psychology of their existence, but I still think there’s value to be found in Trophies all these years later. They provide a sense of meaning to our gaming exploits, and reward players with a welcome dose of serotonin as small notifications appear upon the completion of levels or the defeat of a particularly annoying boss - but what was once a novel enhancement of the gaming experience has now become the status quo, with many overlooking these awards in favour of just playing the games themselves.
All in all, this could prove an easy Platinum, provided the story Trophies aren't too far out of reach.If we’re being realistic, Trophies are little more than worthless virtual accolades. It doesn't even seem that securing the Platinum will require fans to collect all Bolts or come out on top in every challenge. Other notable Trophies include those that ask players to complete certain challenges or defeat enemies under specific conditions. There are the standard "Purchase All Weapons" requirements, "Collect 5 Gold Bolts" objectives, and "Get a Weapon to Level 5" tasks. The other 30-plus Trophies still paint quite the picture, though. For the sake of spoilers, Trophies geared towards the narrative have yet to go live. The title boasts 46 Trophies in total, 31 of the miscellaneous variety and 15 story-focused rewards. Ratchet & Clank developer Insomniac Games shared a partial Trophy list for Rift Apart on Twitter (via PowerPyx).
Related: Which Ratchet & Clank Games To Play Before Rift Apart How the story will fare in the long run remains a mystery, of course, but there's now a clear picture with regards to what Trophy Hunters can expect on the road to the Platinum Trophy. Equipped with a bionic arm and a heavy hammer, Rivet will enter the picture at some point during the Rift Apart narrative, inadvertently splitting up the two friends while also giving players access to new gameplay options. This time, however, the heroes will share screen time with another protagonist - a female Lombax named Rivet who hails from another dimension.
RATCHET AND CLANK TROPHIES SERIES
The latest adventure in the family-friendly series once more places the titular characters Ratchet and Clank front and center. Rift Apart's release is now less than away, approximately one year after its announcement during Sony's PlayStation 5 reveal event.
Developer Insomniac Games released most of the Ratchet & Clank: Rift Apart Trophy list, which doesn't seem as though it will prove too difficult to tackle.
